The Perfect Gift for a New Mom

I made this for my sister-in-law as a Christmas gift since she is due just a few days after Christmas, but it would be perfect as a baby shower gift. It’s just a little goodie bag of comfort items that can be easily taken to the hospital and used in the days following the birth.

I found this bag in an inexpensive little accessories store at the mall and had her first initial monogrammed on the front.

Here is the list of items included in the bag, which I printed out and attached to the bag.

Maggie’s

Labor/Delivery/Postpartum

Survival Kit

Pamper yourself during your hospital stay with the following items:

  • “Nurse Bait”- a bucket of goodies to keep the nurses coming back to take extra good care of you!
  • Burt’s Bees lotion- a non-flowery smell so you can pamper yourself without overwhelming Emily’s nose!
  • Hand sanitizer- for visitors to use before holding Emily.
  • Tissues -for the gamut of emotions
  • Wet wipes- because you never know when you can use more wipes
  • Apple- for when you need something healthy
  • Werther’s hard candy -for when you want something sweet
  • Kind granola bars- for when the hospital food sucks (ALMONDS- Not for James)
  • Nivea lip balm- because who can live without that?
  • Non-slide headbands -to keep your hair out of your face
  • Baby-theme stationary- for writing thank you notes if you need to occupy your mind or hands

There’s also a cute little poem that goes with the “Nurse Bait” bucket:

Nurse Bait

When one’s in the hospital or feeling sick,

The very best thing is to get well quick.

The nurses are wonderful and take good care.

But they can’t stay too long. That’s not fair!

To lure them in to check on you

Even more often than they already do,

This bucket of NURSE BAIT should do the trick

To get them to see you often and quick!

With extra visits and extra care

Hopefully you’ll soon be out of there!

We’re getting super excited to meet baby Emily! Hopefully this little care package will make the days following her arrival a little smoother for Mommy  🙂
